Radiation Applications in Japan

  Radiation causes atoms and molecules in materials to react easily, resulting in various changes. Using this ability to alter material properties, radiation has been applied widely in agriculture, medicine and environmental conservation as well as industries to improve our lives.
  Various kinds of radiation are available: gamma-rays from radioisotopes such as cobalt-60, electron and ion beams generated by particle accelerators, and neutrons from nuclear reactors, accelerators, or radio-isotopes.
